How
Coaching Works
Coaching is consistent, long-term, and allows time to go on a path of
self-discovery to get to where the client wants to go.
Coaching is a “non-linear” process of identifying one’s commitments in
life and uncovering one’s ‘secret agendas’ that we often are not even
aware are at work holding us back. Once the mental path is clear of
obstacles (fears, wrong assessments, false judgments, misconceptions,
etc.), the way is open to achieve one’s desires with miraculous rapidity.
(Coaching is best understood through example—via a complimentary coaching
session--rather than description.)
Through individual coaching sessions, I work with clients to identify the
gap between where they are now and where they want to be in the future—and
I help them bridge the gap. As your partner, I am committed to your
achievement of your goals and vision, even when you forget to be. Through
a structured process of questioning, exploring, and listening—without the
emotional attachments or judgments evident with family and friends--I am
highly trained to discern where your difficulties may lie and how to get
past them,
- to create a work plan with objectives and milestones that fits your
personality and desired level of rigor
- to keep you motivated and on track with a minimum of slippage or
backtracking.
Individual coaching sessions can be held in person but are most often
conducted by phone (no travel time). Appointments are frequently scheduled
once per week at the client’s convenience for three half-hour sessions per
month, but other coaching arrangements can be worked out, depending on the
client’s previous coaching experience and needs.
Coaching can help you get organized and manage your life to have what you
want with joy and ease.
How does it differ from therapy or business consulting?
A coach does not deal with past emotional issues like therapy but is
committed to all aspects of a client’s current and future life working in
sync, and not just the specific problem at hand like business consulting.
Coaching is consistent, has long-term benefits, and allows time to go on a
path of self-discovery to see where the client wants to go and to develop
a plan to get her/him there. The coach is committed to the client’s
personal best interests and is always in your corner…even when the client
is asked to do something seemingly uncomfortable or huge in order to leap
forward.
Is it confidential?
Coaching is a profession with its own procedures, standards, technology,
ethics, and certification process. What you are doing, how you are doing
it, what you have accomplished, and your personal secrets remain
absolutely confidential. |
